Quality Assurance Lab Intern
Chelsea Milling Company, the manufacturer of Jiffy mixes, is now accepting resumes for a Quality Lab Internship position at our Chelsea, MI Location! We are seeking a purpose-driven candidate with an ownership mentality to fill this Intern position, which runs for roughly 12 weeks starting in Mid May.
Responsibilities
- Performs sample preparation and routine testing for sugar, protein, and fat on finished product mixes.
- Conducts leavening analysis on finished product mixes.
- Performs tests accurately and consistently, following procedures and performing tests in same way each day to provide accurate results.
- Maintains equipment and general work area including the following: cleaning of equipment, keeping records of maintenance performed, ensuring equipment is working properly, keeping work area clean and orderly.
- Knowledge and understanding of safety and housekeeping standards and practiced in daily activities.
- Responsible for proper use and maintenance of lab equipment and supplies including analytical balances, pH meter, colorimeter, stir plate, labware, chemicals, Waters HPLC, Oxford NMR, Hitachi XRF, and Elementar Protein Analyzer.
- Prepares chemical solutions for tests as needed.
- Learns and keeps familiar with lab procedures.
- Keep a well-documented laboratory notebook and have it co-signed within two weeks.
- Responsible for communicating with supervisor and team members.
- Records and communicates unexpected test result differences.
Credentials and Education
- At least 2nd year college level bachelor’s candidate in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or other science degree.
- Knowledge of safety practices in labs preferred.
- Microsoft suite proficiency, preferred.
- Lab research experience preferred.
